Landscaping

As part of our detailed planning for Units A and B, we have maximised opportunities for landscaping within and around Development Zone 1A (DZ1A). Our intention is to create a strong setting for both buildings and enhance the environment at the gateway into the site.

  1. We have created an area of open space measuring over half an acre at the entrance to the site next to the gatehouse. The open space will incorporate a public art feature visible from the spine road and marking the arrival to the site.
  2. We took the pathway running along the south side of the internal spine road and moved it to the north side. This allowed us to enhance the area of structural landscaping on the north side of DZ1A, which now includes a sculpted hedgerow alongside other new planting.
  3. In the 74m wide gap between Unit A and B, we have incorporated a new, substantial green corridor that is almost 200m long and typically around 30m wide. This green corridor and associated circulation space provide significant breathing room between buildings and enhance the experience of people moving through this space.

  4. We have moved the location of the Peddimore Brook crossing to the south-east corner of DZ1A, which has allowed us to create an uninterrupted corridor of over 350m for Peddimore Brook through this part of the site.

These changes, alongside the detailed design and layout of Units A and B, deliver a significant benefit in the quality of landscaping and help to minimise the visual impact of the buildings.
