BOOKFEST SHOWS PEDDIMORE COMMUNITY FUND IS MORE THAN JUST WORDS

IM Properties (IMP) is excited to be supporting yet another local project through its Peddimore Community Fund.

Sutton Coldfield Bookfest 2020 is going ahead thanks to a £2000 grant donated jointly by IMP and Heart of England Community Foundation.

The Bookfest will give children the chance to meet their favourite authors, discover new books and experience hands-on storytelling.

Organised by Friends of Libraries in Our Sutton Coldfield (Folio) and Bournville BookFest, the event is taking place on Saturday February 29. It is also supported by Sutton Coldfield Town Centre (BID) and Sutton Coldfield Town Hall.

Zoe Toft, chair of FOLIO Sutton Coldfield said they were tremendously grateful for the grant from the Peddimore Community Fund.

“The grant towards Sutton Coldfield Bookfest has made all the difference to our ability to put on an inspiring event for our local community.

“FOLIO is a small entirely volunteer-run organisation, and so it was especially helpful that the grant application procedure was easy and straightforward. It didn’t take hours to complete or expert grant writing skills, and since receiving the grant, we’ve had great support from the fund team. Thank you, Peddimore Community Fund!”

The Peddimore Community Fund was set up by IM Properties as part of an extensive Social Value programme to support local community organisations surrounding its new Peddimore scheme, which will be one of the most significant manufacturing and logistic sites in the UK.

Kerry Amory, executive assistant for development delivery, who is overseeing the Social Value programme at IM Properties said:

“We’re so pleased to be supporting Bookfest, the grant support means that FOLIO can put on an event which is open to the community and helps improve children’s reading and writing- skills, which we see as being very important.

“It’s great to hear from Zoe that FOLIO felt the application process was simple. It’s essential to ensure it’s easy to apply and with another year of grants to award, we welcome organisations to submit their applications.”

The Peddimore Community Fund has already awarded 14 grants totalling £24,334 since it was established in 2019, with the aim of helping community organisations with the following objectives:

Helping to raise aspirations for young people/adults

Provide learning opportunities for families and children

Support training opportunities for adults with no formal qualifications

Help older people with social and health needs
