Local Brownie group dig for their archaeology badges, with the help of Peddimore contractors, Winvic

Winvic teamed up with a local Brownie group last autumn for a special archaeology workshop, introducing young girls to the vast range of potential career opportunities in construction.

The team welcomed 24 girls and the leaders of the 40th Sutton Coldfield Brownie unit to Forge Farm allotments next to the site to take part in their very own archaeological dig.

The session helped to show the key role an archaeologist plays at the planning stage of projects, and used some of the findings from surveys carried out at Peddimore.

Following a history lesson and a talk about how the Peddimore site was checked for unexploded WWII bombs, the girls then had a go at some digging of their own in two pre-prepared trenches.

All of the participants left full of enthusiasm and of course with a new Brownie badge!
