PROPERTY COMPANY LOOKS TO SUPPORT LOCAL ORGANISATIONS
Birmingham community groups looking to fund local projects are being encouraged to apply for grants from a £270,000 Peddimore Community Fund.
A slowdown in applications has been experienced during the current crisis and property company, IM Properties, who set up the fund, is keen to let local groups know they’re still looking to help.
IM Properties launched the Peddimore Community Fund in 2018 to assist local projects surrounding a major new employment park being created in Minworth, Royal Sutton Coldfield.
Managed by the Heart of England Community Foundation, the fund awards grants of up to £2000 and could help with social welfare, health and well-being initiatives, sports or community projects or formal training and education programmes.
Kerry Amory from IM Properties who works on the company’s social value agenda said, “We understand that many community funds have diverted their attention to help with the coronavirus recovery and whilst we have donated money to assist in the fantastic work Heart of England Community Foundation has been doing to help people impacted, we are still keen to support local organisations trying to move forward in their communities.
“We’ve already awarded £32,334 from the fund so far and helped a wide range of organisations including a Bingo Club for older and socially isolated people, a Lego therapy club for children and an innovative digital project to help connect communities.”
IM Properties has an extensive Social Value programme being implemented at Peddimore to deliver social and economic benefits to the local community, which includes partnering with four community organisations including St Basils, The Jericho Foundation, The Pioneer Group and Witton Lodge.
Tina Costello, chief executive of Heart of England Community Foundation, said: “We’re really keen to gain momentum again in our support for local organisations and would urge anyone interested to visit our website, which provides full details of the criteria and examples of the types of projects the fund wishes to support.”
